Max Width Tire on Stock GTR Rims?

Hey Guys,

Just like the title states I've got the stock R32 GTR rims and normally the tire is a p225 what is the max I can fit on them? or can you even I was told by a few of my friends that they always put wider tires on there rims.

Another question is doing this going to make the car handle better around corners?

I have the stock nissan wheels on my GT-R and currently fitted on them is BFGoodrich 245/50R16, I did see a big difference from 225's. The problem with this size is that not all tires manufacturers will carry this size. I found that most of the time it's not just how wide the tire is but the type of compond the tires that make a huge difference on cornering.

The biggest you can get in a 16" is a 255/50. There used to be a whole bunch of choice, but the cars that used the 245 and 255 tire sizes are getting to be more than 10 years old now (1993 to 2002 Camaro/Firebird) and selection is starting to dry up.

Do a search on www.Tirerack.com and see what is avail., then you can go to your local tire dealer (Crappy Tire is actually pretty good, you can get most brands through their special order program) and see if they can get it if you don't want to deal with the boarder.

IMHO a 245/50 is what belongs on a 8" wide rim, 225 just looks to small. The Dunlops I have on my rims look pathetic.

I think im gonna do this as well. For this year anyways. I want to get spacers to bring them out a bit tho. What would you guys suggest? Also best street track tire? Iv searched these:

i wouldnt go wider than 255.
