Engineers have a reason behind everything they do.
Not always, one might say that its a marketing ploy to get into the inline-6 twin turbo market. things were a lot more competitive in the perfomance genre of vehicles in the early-mid 90s in the japanese market. (rx7, supra, skyline, etc..) engineers have a lot on their plate, cost, servicability of the vehicle, and how the company want to market the vehicle for.

if that statement you said is true, if youve worked on many different makes and models of cars and never asked yourself.. "wtf did they do this?!?" or
why the hell did they place this component here!??!" and such.. that just means you dont wrench at all. It is not rocket sciene.. its a CAR. they are not trying to to build a spaceship. they are trying to put in what works and what works the easiest and cheapest. in this case im sure you guys already know why we have twins....

Why use the narrow crank drive? Why use HICAS all-wheel steering?

There are a lot more reasons than "it's better" to explain an OEMs choice.

You have linked youtube and wikipedia to try and explain your side. Do you have any real world experience with the subject?

Engineers aren't perfect and they do make mistakes that are found out when testing is done on racetrack and fixed via running updates on production line. Sometimes they try fixes on the next models. Or go with a different setup (R35 GTR for example).

Roughly translated from 1993 Nissan R32GTR catalogue -

Fitted with two turbochargers, and this Tsuinseramikkutabo, while improving horsepower, low- Allow a sharp rise from the rpm range. In other words, Work on the throttle response is always linear I get that.
From what I understand, that's transient response which is linear as they call it and backs up what I have felt by seat of pants with the smooth transistion.
