Even the simple task of unpluging and pluging back in the coil pigtails a bunch of times can make a difference. Sometimes the contacts get corroded and you will loose some current capacity across them which heats them up and makes the contact even worse. Be carefull messing around with the coil harness though, it will be brittle after 15 years of heat cycles, especially the plugs, the locking clips like to break off.
Another reason I like to run the copper plugs is the fact that they usually have half the resistance of a Plat. plug which will help spark energy with weaker coils. The more boost you run, the more resistance there is across the plug gap. Why add to it?
