  • Anyone with experience running Solid Motor Mounts

Does anyone have any experience with running Solid Motor Mounts on their RB26? I want to know how bad the vibration is on the inside of the car. Does the whole interior start to rattle or will you just feel the vibration in the steering or at a certain RPM (maybe frequency related vibration). I'm looking into getting a custom set made, but before I do I just want to make sure I can bare with the vibration.

Fawk, I guess I'll have to consider Nismo Mounts in my maintenance plan.

I have used them on a ford escort RS2000 , we used the car for hillclimbing and the noise was irritating even through a helmet.

I'd never use them on a road car , absolutely no need .

What you could do is take your mounts to a company like rubberline and have the rubber removed and have it repaced with polyurethane , even that is pretty hideous for vibration.

why do you want to change them in the first place ?

The only reason im considering solid mounts is cause the Nismo mounts I had replaced a few months ago in my car Broke.

Ah you big babies, it's not that bad. I've had them in several vehicles over the years. I even had them in a Vega with a 350 in it, solid, no rubber what so ever in a uni-body car. You hear a bit more engine noise but that's it. If you are hearing stuff over and above that, you either had something loose or the mounts weren't designed right.

As far as vibration goes, unless you have huge cams bouncing the motor around you won't feel much (again, unless something is wrong, like the flywheel being slightly off balance or your harmonic balancer is starting to come undone, you shouldn't feel much).

As far as I'm concerned, you will pick out trouble a lot sooner with the solid mounts (balancer about to pooch, driveshaft issues, detination, front halfshafts starting to go, etc.....).

How come they broke, if anyone should be breaking mounts, it's me. Stock and still holding together.
