  • Car running rich

So mechanic let me know my car was running rich so i checked a few things to figure out it wasn't running in safe mode. He said my valve controller wasn't configured properly but he wasn't sure what to do with it and i have never touched one in my life. Anyone know of a place that can do it cheap or anyone personally around Hamilton that is experienced with them?

if you post up a bit more information we may ba able to help u more

is this a GTR/GTS? what year? what "valve controller"?

most turbo cars run rich, its safer to run rich than lean. how rich are you talking? are you pouring black smoke out the exhaust while you drive?

That doesn't sound good, steam all the time means only one thing, head gasket.

Tell the mechanic to stick to non turbo cars Unless he's in japan where they're magical tuners who run close to stoic (no black smoke)
              No build thread.

when it comes to being safer to run rich than lean, how lean can you make the car though? Is there a proper tune to at least get to the middle. I have black smoke when i pull hard, and also i notice if i drive the car hard...carbon deposit on the bumper.

a tiny little puff of black smoke isn't the end of world, if clouds of black smoke make it impossible to even see behind you though... that would be a problem. A lot of us get black soot residue on the area 4 inches around the tip of the exhaust or so... its not a heavy black soot and easily brushes off, its more of a light haze i guess..

maybe post a video or pic of these concerns.
