  • Smoking backfiring and crazy surging won't go over 4 grand oh and stalling easily

Ok so this is my first tech post and I was hoping someone could shed some light. I have looked up all the other stuttering and surgeing and hesitation threads but none of them really fit my description. It was similar to a lot of your guys problems yesterday with the very periodically hitting a wall under load or just hesitating a bit but yesterday she basically #*%^ the bed. I did a quick pull and didn't realize but went over a couple bumps nothing huge just enough to shake the car a bit and she immediately stalled. She was running perfect up to this point. Now when I start er up she is extremely hesitant doesn't wanna go past like 2 grand and periodically will lurch forward but still won't go past 4 grand. At idle it's between 1100 and 900 but desperately wants to stall and does if I let it. I left it over night, went to start it but just seems a little flooded ( due to running rich I'm sure ) and backfired a couple times and is smoking a bit. She is 100% stock absolutely nothing done save for the removal of the boost restrictor. It has 79632 km on er and I checked the piping briefly butcouldnt find any loose couplers. Sorry for the long post please help and resetting ecu didn't even temporarily fix the issue

Do an ECU code reading. It sounded like your ECU or MAF (or connections to them) went bad.

Also check your intake piping in your front bumper. One of the intercooler couplings might have fallen off. It's quick and easy to check.

No need to apologize, we've all been there.

Glad to see it was only the piping which is a quick fix.

And as for deleting threads, it's better to keep everything so if someone later on has the same issue he can find the resolution in this thread.
