  • Which type of motor oil?

I'm kinda new to the Gtr world. And my new skyline is due for a oil change, the privious owner used 10w40 royal purple synthetic oil. But wondering if I should run something better. I only have to to maybe 2 a year so if it's more money I don't mind. I only street drive the car, maybe track a few times in a few years.

I tried searching but no luck.

Looking for recommendations and what be best oil to run with my driving.

    Thank you!

It's great for the summer but hard to start the car when it's below 0 degreese

if you only change your oil twice a year, then you can afford to run Motul 300V

and im hoping that you only change your oil twice a year because you only drive it in the summer or something... in which case, run the 5w40 or 10w40 if your car only sees mostly street driving

I have royal purple 5w30 , but i also use an HKS oil cooler that keeps temps waaaay down . I wouldn't use this on an oem setup!

I love it , its a bit thinner so turbo spool is noticably quicker on my new setup , non-ballbearing turbos can suffer quite alot of drag on thicker oils .

I was using 10w40 redline but it was a bit thick !

so basically, ill prob stick with 10w40 royal purple. or i can try 10w30 as its a bit thinner and i only drive it on weekends. not going to the track this year. im new to the car so got to get the hang of it.

by running 10w30 vs 10w40, would i notice anything in driving? seems to be that theres not a big difference...

my last car i went from 10w30 to 20w50 and it felt like i was towing a cow behind me , thicker oil = more drag .

If your only street driving you dont need thicker oil. I doubt you'll be reaching 110 degrees on 10w30 on the street.

A 15w50 will also improve oil pressure, made a huge difference in my car. With my rb25 pushin 500rwhp and the oem fuel pump, I'll take any benefits I can
