Ya man listen to what these guys are saying, be ready to spend a lot of money on the car. And if your not prepared then I don't recommend you getting a GTR. Ive already spent 7 grand on mine and that's just to get it running reliably, no power upgrades or anything. And thats not even half of what i'm going to end up spending on it haha. But like they said if you do get it, get a compression test for sure!!

I recently pulled my engine for the 3rd time this year because it started ticking like that. I am not for sure but by the info given in the following thread it could be the bottom end. http://forums.gtrcanada.com/gt-r-tec...ig-time-3.html . I know it's an old thread but I would trust most things that "mcfly" or "malibusst" say... My advice. Build a monster engine, then buy the car, then do your work and clean your hands. I would have saved probably 10k by now if I had done it that way.
Dang! You got shocks, pegs... Lucky! You ever take it off any sweet jumps?

Thanks for the advice, I feel like as much as the information is valuable I am getting I am being misunderstood a little. My point here is to have a GT-R, take care of it and eventually rebuild it thats when I will do the serious boosting but for now I will be taking it easy 95% of the time, I wont track it I will race probably 2-3 times a month. If this is the case I was hoping I can get 4-5 months out of it as a DD and then just have it rebuilt. Any comments anyone?

^ I think so too, and it is quite the ordinary sound for them but during the filming I noticed that there was a different ticking coming from the left side of the car, you can hear it clearly when I put the camera near the left fender... I'm scared it could be a bearing issue.

Hey gents. I ended up getting that GTR, and to ease the paranoia I had some experienced mechanics give it a look and they all agreed that it is a possibility of one or 2 basic things.

#1 - INJECTORS, possible changing of the injectors themselves or the O-Rings in the injectors.
#2 - To be safe here my mechanic suggested changing spark plugs at the same time as changing the injectors.

                  >>> I APOLOGIZE FOR BRINGING PARANOIA THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE INTERNALS OF THE VEHICLE <<<

Just wanna say thanks for everyone who replied and helped me get through this. Appreciate it

                  - Also wanted to thank Rony ( aN4rK1, a member of this forum ) for selling me this amazing GT-R and being so kind and honest. -

Thank you I more happy with it than many of the previous cars I've owned. Including an 02 trans am ws6. It truly is amazing in all aspects. I was thinking about sleeping in it when I brought it home lol. Its great. I have the only GTR in my city and I have already caused a few people to twist there neck almost to death and/or crash into the vehicle ahead at a light...lol. Thanks gents.

my 93 gtr makes the same noise. I have to shop for some good injectors too.

this is pretty old but i thought i would give an update on this. gtr dad was right, it needs a re-shim, thats where the ticking noise is from. there are 2 injectors which are leaking, not too excessively, some of the tick could be coming from that but mosttt of it is valves. regardless, i still own this machine and the compression is still great and she drives as great as any other i have driven. i have to change the intake manifold gasket and it has a coolant leak.

I just wanna say thanks again for the attention given to this. I kind of came on strong when i originally posted this but it is the biggest purchase i have made, i was very concerned with the decision. but like i said, the car drives great, runs great.. so far ive had it painted, tune ups and oil changes done, new clutch, interior cleaned up and dressed up, engine bay painted black, cleaned up and changed some engine parts, painted some things in the engine, and changed the tires. next step will be to have the wheels refinished because I LOVE the Nismo Rays LM GT2's. thought about painting them gunmetal....but im typically all about the original looks of things.
