Totally stumped...Can someone help ID these turbo's?

  • Totally stumped...Can someone help ID these turbo's?

    So I just bought a set of turbos that are suppose to be N1 steel wheels but after closer inspection, the ID stamp doesn't really match any N1 or stock ceramic for that matter. I suspect they may be r32 N1 as they have compressor a/r .42 and turbine a/r .48 which matches this, here are some pictures:


    Any help identifying these turbo's will be much appreciated!

      Thats weird cause i searched it up and the corresponding stamp: 431876-0072 has a/r64 which is the spec for r33 N1 turbos. but from second picture you can see that the exhaust side a/r is .48

        from the second photo 42/48 is the bnr r3233 turbo 1411-24u00 and the n1 should be 42 /64

          yeah, the regular ceramics are 42/48 but i have a few ceramic turbos laying around that the turbine doesnt look the same as the ceramics, could they still be steel wheel?

          Also, has anyone tried putting a magnet at the turbine of a steel wheel turbo to check if they are megnetic? Because from what i've read, the material of "steel" turbines is actually an alloy called inconel, which is high in nickel content meaning its not actually magnetic, if thats the case, how do you determine if you have "steel" wheel turbines?

          UPDATE: just confirmed that the "steel" wheel turbines are not magnetic, and it seems that my turbos are in fact steel wheel, now i just need to figure out what models they are since im pretty sure they aren't r33/34 N1

            Those are stock turbo rebuilt with metal turbine wheels.

              so i suppose these are what they call hybrid tubos? how much boost can they handle? I was planning to boost 18psi with them is that out of their efficiency range?

                The turbine size is about the same as the stock one. If it has the same compressor of the stock one (highly likely), then 16-18psi is probably the max you want run.
