Read something online (may have been posted here) that agrees with gtrjohn on stock porting. It basically said that unless you go with huge, un-streetable cams and valves not much gains in power will be seen. "The stock ports flow quite a bit of air and produce nice tumble helping fuel atomization", was kinda what it said...

It did say that a mild polish and port matching on the exhaust ports and manifold can/will help response.

exactly! a little diy port just to clean up some rough edges left over cant hurt but unless your going with over sized valves and huge cams porting isnt worth the 2k. everyone always talks aboutporting but no one has any proof to back up the gains...

From what I understand, from what is said in catalogue from car manufacturer, twin turbo smoothes out the transient response. Basically doesn't come on like a light switch as experienced with GTS-R.

If want response, big hp, compound turbocharging (small turbo + big turbo) -

I was able to catch Marc at Boost Logic for just a second and got him to explain his turbo compound setup.

          Driving compound turbocharged car -

Boost Logic Twin Turbo (Compound) test drive. SC50 and GT42-74 running 24 psi of boost (spiking 27 psi)

Similar to what they used on old school big hp 4cyl rally cars in Europe, but I think they used a small supercharger, bigger turbocharger.

For example on this 4cyl Lotus in US (supercharger, turbocharger) -
