  • Oil pump

Has anyone changed the oil pump with the engine still in the car? I have access to a hoist and engine holding bar so I can lower subframe and oil pan. I think mine is suffering loose screw on the back of the pump syndrome and dont want to do full rebuild yet, car runs strong and no engine noise, compression is good and even, would look at bearings while pan off.
    Thanks

You don't need to pull the motor to change the oil pump. You just need to remove the radiator and the belt covers to get at it. Just make sure you have a compact gear puller for the crank pulley and some pb blaster and some patience for the timing gear and it shouldn't be very hard. While you're at it might as well do the timing belt, tensioner and water pump.

Thanks! Oil Pressure never goes above 2.5 bar even at high revs, suspect back of pump may be falling off.
