Hi, I have a R32 Skyline GTR, and I'm having issues with my engine temp gauge not working properly. The gauge ususally reads the engine temp when the car is idling, but as soon as I start driving the car the temp gauge goes right down to cold, and sometimes it doesn't read the temp at all. I've replaced the engine temp sensor, and I've got all the air out of the system, and it's still not work. I am getting warm air through the air ducts but its not hot, so it makes me question if its the thermostat or not. Anyone having any idea what my issue could be?

Get someone with Nistune tuning software (Nistune dealer / tuner) or Consult (Nissan dealership or Consult program, Consult cable) to check coolant temps via ECU (more accurate). If coolant temps are still dropping while driving, thermostat opening too much can be a cause. When stock thermostat fails, it tends to late open at around 95 degrees and coolant temps reach 95+ degrees. But sometimes it can do the opposite.
Or someone has fitted a Nismo low temp thermostat (stock coolant temp gauge needle sits below halfway at idle when engine is warm with Nismo low temp thermostat, around 62.5 degrees).
Stock thermostat should start to open at 78.5 degrees and be fully open around 90 degrees.Last edited by Skym; 01-02-2012, 08:53 AM.RESPONSE MONSTER
