Hey, i am currently swapping stock turbos because a blew my first ones. im having problems with this because its my first time and dont have all the right tools ive heard u need to custom some tools to do this job im at the point where i need to remove everything ontop of the second turbo like heat sheild n oil lins ect. im having problems getting on of the hard intake pipes right beside the second turbo off because the bolt is right under it n i cant fit a wrench or anything on it to well also one of my oil/water lines wont come off its a bit stripped. so i was wondering if anyone could come help me im new to these cars and wanna learn more about them i live in cochrane just west of calgary if you could help me remove the blown turbos and install the new ones that would be greatly apriciated. just shoot me a message if your free this week. thanks.

I've never first had pulled turbos off a gtr, but should be very similar to a gts. Not sure of you situation but is it possible to use some universal joints and small socket for the intake pipe. Or this may be a stupid question can you leave the intake pipe on until you remove the turbo? As far as the water line if its anything like the gtst, unbolt the turbo, pull it towards the strut tower, that should give you enough clearance to get a proper 6 point socket in there. Again i'm basing this off it being similar to a gtst. Hope that maybe gives you some ideas.

If you were in/around Edmonton I would come help you out. I went thru the process last winter, lost a lot of skin but got it done. Best thing i can say is get offset heat and half moon box wrenches for the manifold nuts, those will help a lot. Good luck!

ive tried its a small place to get into haha im still gonna work on it to try to c if i can spring some luck. everything needs to come of because i can get at the bolts to the turbos with out removing everything the first turbos unbolted but not from the second i need 3 bolts off the first turbo manifold to get if off the the place where they r and un reachable for any tool i have.(0=0)_____(0=0)

What ever you do make sure you spray the sh*t out of the bolts and turbo coolant/oil lines with penetration oil. Let it soak over night and it will be much easier. Might save you from braking something as well.
Just take your time on the turbos and figure out where all the bolts are that keep the turbo in place. Go step by step. Here is the service manual if you haven't seen it before.

Having changed turbos on both my gts and a buddys gtr i can say they are nothing alike lol. The gtr is waaayy more tedious. I helped another member swap his turbos back in the summer, if you search for the thread 'Little help needed' theres a whack of helpful info in there.I canz take this corner at 195k cause i gots AWDZ. Get real.

Make sure you have a couple hours to do this as it is tedious like mentioned and just extremely frustrating in some areas. Ok so here we go.....
1. Get together the majority of the tools you'll need, I kept mine a Close to try and make things easier. You'll need from what I remember:
-flat head screw driver
-8mm socket for the clamps, and ratchet
-17 mm wrench and 19 mm wrench for the pluming
-10mm for the heat shield
-14mm for the downpipe removal
*** and make sure you have stubby wrenches and extensions available, this is the key to making things much easier!****
2.take of your hard piping or rubber piping going to the intercooler
3.take off the mafs
4.take off your charge piping
5. Take off the t shaped elbow by front of the car
6. At this point you should be able to reach your heat shields so take them off
7.take your 17 and loosen the front(I believe coolant line) on both turboes
8.grab your 19mm and loosen both water lines
9.now you can start loosening the bolts on the manifold, they won't drop down all the way so don't force it as the hard lines migh still be somewhat in the way and the downpipe is still attached
10.now this will be up to you but for me I completely removed the downpipe since I knew I was replacing all the gaskets anyways
11. So now that you have the downpipe gone your trying to remove the turboes but why just don't go down quite far enough so you need to push them down a bit and get you 3 cm gap between the manifold and turbo.
12. Get your flex socket, extension and your 1/2 socket and remove the manifold. Follow the same for the rear.
Now that you have done this you should be able to get them out. And obviously you will do the exact opposite to put back together. I would suggest changing your gaskets well your in there so you can have confidence in your work.

When you have removed the turbos and manifolds it is a good idea to remove and replace the manifold studs with a pair of m8 munt locked against each other.
Tap the end of each stud with a hammer to loosen its bond with the alloy cylinder head
Often when trying to remove them they snap and the remainder of the stud will have to be tapped out with a punch or easy out..
It is better to find which studs require re lapcing. At this stage rather than when you have the manifolds and turbos bolted back together.
