  • Wandering idle

Hey guys so I'm not sure if it's normal but I suspect not when I am coming to a stop and sometimes when just sitting my idle will jump upto 1500 then eventually drop back to 1000 I tried cleaning and resoldering my mafs and it's still happens. I'm wondering what else it could be?
    Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem in my rb20. It was quite a pain in the ass to have to tap the gas so it would stall out.
Miss driving sooooo bad! Need to get a car on the road ASAP!

Nothing I do changes it not tapping the gas not pulling it from the back only time changes it. Burton do you know where that's located on rb26? Was also told to try cleaning the aac but not sure where that's located either. If anyone has pics of where they are both located it would be greatly appreciated!
        Thanks again guys

            Is your intake manifold stock?

It did that on my RB20 when there was a airleak infront throttlebody which was close to air feed for AACV, IACV. Fixed airleak (tightened intake hose clamps), problem went away. Sometimes the intake hose joiner goes hard and get a airleak in that area, so have to replace intake hose joiner.

If constantly at 1500rpm when warm, MAF failure (has a MAF error code on ECU).

i had the same but would only go up to 1400rpm....so i have never done an idle adjustment and what i did was unbolt the iacv and sprayed intake cleaner til it looked clean....put new gasket (old one was crispy chicken) then my car now idles at 1200rpm....followed idle adjustement from FSM....fully warmed up and driven...unplugged aac connecter so ecu has no control over idle and aac valve is now closed....hooked up to my laptop adjust idle screw and target 950rpm....got it exactly idling at 935-975rpm varying..tested with a/c on and idle brings it up to 950rpm....

before the adjustment i tried and tried to look for cracked hoses....NONE.....hth

Yes stock intake mani. My idle never stays above 1000 for more than 15-20 seconds.Where is the iac and aac? That's all I really need to know so I can clean them and put in new gaskets?

Could be the intake manifold gaskets, or other kind of leak. Is the ECU stock

Your idle control valve is at the back of the intake manifold. Should have a hose coming out going into a tri connector. Sorry for the late reply
