  • When to bore the plenum?

Hey everyone, im in the stages of pulling my motor for a 500 crank horse power build, pretty much changing everything but the block internals, and I was wondering if it was worth my while to bore out the plenum chambers a little? Has anytone done this at around this power level? Is it a difficukt/expensive modification? Just thought id ask while I have the chance.

    Some of the major mods:
    Garrett 2860's
    EMS V2
    880 cc injectors
    ARC 4" IC

BTW, how exactly DO you bore a plunum properly/uniformly? If it can be done in a day I may just do it anyways. Thanks everyone

X2, when you'll need a better plenum, just buy an aftermarket one like nismo or greddy, they've been flowbench'd and testd !

Plenum is fine with that power. 4" intercooler will make you laggier, stock intercooler (or R34 intercooler if you're really looking to spend money for an upgrade) is still efficient about 500hp.

Those turbos are a bit big for your power, going with smaller -7s will get you the power you want WITH much faster response unless you doing mind being laggy until you want more power. Stock head, intake plenum, intake pipes, intercooler... all good at 500hp still. Save the cash from those overkill parts for some bling rims and body panels!!

Making 500hp on these cars insn't expensive and doesn't require loads of parts. Going over 500hp is different and would require new internals too, so stick with the smaller but fast responding turbos and forget the intercooler/plenum work. Really. Your main concern in Canada is finding a confident tuner that will get you the power your setup can make without being really rich to compensate for fear of engine failure or lack of confidence. There's conservative and stupid rich. Have fun doing it though! haha

Yes, well unfortunatly ive already bought everything haha. BB 2860's shouldnt have too much lag. Something else ive wondered, when you 500 HP is tops for stock block, is that crank or AWDHP?

Ill get mine tuned @ 500 AWHP on stock bottom + cams.

As for the boost -7 will do my job, OEM intercooler, plenum. Ill get some hard piping kit to prevent it from collapsing

Ya I have an entire hard piping kit going from the turbos to the IC and a GReddy IC kit going from the IC to the plenum

Your build parts are all for 500awhp+ so either build your engine (or leave it as the weak point) and let it do it's thing or limit power at 450awhp and have less response then the guys running stock head/pipes/intercooler and smaller turbos rated at that 500whp.

For example, on my garage stand queen, everything but my fuel pump should handle 650whp and up but I probably won't see 501whp so I'm safe. If I stay at 500whp, the N1 turbo guys will be faster cause I'm running bigger -5 turbos but not to their rated power.

wait, 2860 doesn't mean anything. What's the rest of the number?
