  • Nistune Non-Stock ROM sharing

This may be a stupid question, but I can't find a straight answer.

Can non-stock ROM files for Nistune be shared between users? Ideally, I would like somebody to share their maps for a base tune, with a similar build to mine. Of course, I can enter my Z32 MAF and 800cc injector values.

Seems like it can be easily done?? Major modification wise, my build is basically a RB26 with GT2860R-5 turbos, and supporting mods.

    Thanks.

Hmm. Have you thought about going with a power FC L-jetro? It comes with it's own base map to get you to the tuner and they're super easy to tune while costing less than $1000 for a full stand alone!
Black 1991 GTR. Serious garage stand mantle/parts car.
    Black 1990 Pulsar GTiR. Sold
    Silver 1989 GTR. Sold
Black 2010 Subaru WRX. Weekend warrior. Sold.
    Black 2013 F-150 FX4 ecoboost. Daily driver.
White 2012 Ford Explorer Limited. Family wagon.

Sorry for my offensive comments, I r socially retard.

start by having A ROLLING GTR then we talk u ******* mofo funzy little *****

I'm not positive but i want to say yes you can. I'm going to be looking at getting nistune this year also. When you order direct you can get them to load it up with a base map for your car. I'd give them a call. They have a pretty good tech line from what I've heard. Let us know what you find out

The ROM files are "bin" files. You can share them as a what you call a generic tune (one tune for multiple cars), but mods have to be exactly the same (same brand, size of intercooler, same size exhaust, etc), just like a factory car.

When you adjust the MAF settings you're rescaling the load points on top of ignition, fuel maps, so ignition timing, fueling will be out on those maps. With injector resizing it throws out warm up fuel, ignition tables as well (need to be retuned), not just the fuel, ignition maps. You would need a bin file where the scaling has been done for MAF, resized for bigger injectors and tune adjusted on ignition, fuel maps, etc to suit, so can use as a base map. Some tuners do this with tune they have tuned on another car with similar mods in the past to save time. Then tweek to suit your cars engine / mods.

I kind of see your point, but I should emphasize this is strictly a base tune to get me to the dyno. I dont expect somebody elses ROM to work perfectly for me. Correct me if I'm wrong on the following:

The Nissan ECU works on the following formulas:

Theoretical Pulse width (TP) = MAF Lookup * Injection multiplier/RPM
          Injection Pulse width = Fuel table [ RPM , TP/256 ] * TP + Injector Latency + Various enrichment

I understand the items in bold to be constants that can be manipulated by Nistune. The Injection multiplier (K-constant) can also be manipualted by the voltage quantifier map (MAF translation) which is a down table in Nistune.

The injector latency is something I can again manipulate in Nistune using the values provided to me by Deatschewerks. I can also adjust the total injection limits using the resize injector feature.

These are from the Nistune tuning guide.

Changing these values, I "should" have a fairly accurate TP value, and a rough actual injector pulse width value. This is of course assuming that I have a map with the larger turbos. Of course the various enrichments and actual AFR will be off since the borrowed map will not be 100% correct for my car and its mods.

          Any thoughts?

I would put car on a flat bed tow truck. Would never drive on untuned maps to tuner.

This is what I understand from experience with my car (GTS), bigger turbo, etc on dyno (seen the A/F ratio result's on dyno plot with stock maps) and playing with software, stock maps -

The fuel, ignition maps that you use will probably be a stock map with values to suit stock engine. With bigger turbo the engine leans out alot (it did on my car) with same values. If you adjust injector settings in software, it seems to reduce amount of fuel injected on fuel map, so might go leaner or be similar to stock injectors but still will be too lean. Then with MAF adjusting load scaling it could go too lean or too rich on parts of fuel map. That's what worries me.

From what I understand from what I have read, noting K constant number and then adjusting "Injection multiplier (K-constant)" in software (sliding bar), can adjust it leaner or richer at topend (high load) or bottomend (low load). Stock fuel map normally runs leaner at low to mid rpm (left to middle of map / low to mid load) and richer when on boost (right side of map / high load) with stock K value.

At least that's how I understand it and could be wrong with K part.
