Removed boost restrictor, still at stock boost

Just removed my boost restrictor yesterday and I seem to still be getting stock boost. Before I pulled it out I was hitting 7psi solid. Now with it removed I still seem to be hitting 7-8psi. Is it not normal for it to bump up to about 10-12 psi roughly? I have dual Apexi intakes, divorced down pipe and 3" exhaust.
Just wondering if I'm missing something, I plan on eventually adding a boost controller once my budget comes back to life.

do you mean 7 on the stock boost gauge ?

because thats in x100 mmHG, and 700 mmHG is ~13,5psi

Did you just take out the restrictor or the whole control solenoid?

Running aftermarket gauge and only removed the brass sleeve inside the hose with the yellow band. Solenoid is still installed.

If you removed the stock boost solenoid it'll just max out at the internal wastegates. It's what rb20 and rb25 guys do.

and on GTRs, the stock wastegate are set at about ~9,6psi

So do I need to remove the solenoid as well? Never seen this on an RB20 as mentioned above.

So I did some searching and figure that there is two restrictors. I ran my hand down the line coming out the top of the boost solenoid (opposite the one with the yellow band) and low and behold, there is a lump in the line right before it hits the hard piping. Sadly it is buried under the intake. Has anyone had to remove that restrictor as well?

That's weird, took my restrictor and solenoid out and it was boosting to pretty much 1 bar before I put the boost controller in.

Just remove the solenoid and the restrictive and you should be good to go. I'm not to sure what the problem is haha

Mine will go do 1 bar but will drop down to stock boost here and there possibly shitty fuel/engine knock sensor.

I've removed the restrictor out of the yellow banded hose and bypassed the solenoid by hooking both hoses directly together. Will give it a go again.

Well, still hitting stock boost. I guess I'll have to dig a little deeper. I guess I'll be in the market for a boost controller if I ever get my Nismo clutch kit sold.
