  • Intake manifold gaskets

Hey guys, I'm planning to replace my inlet gaskets and was wondering if anyone can shed some light to reaching the intake manifold gaskets. Now I know removing the plenum and replacing the throttle body gaskets takes a fair bit of time, would it be wise to replace the intake manifold gaskets as well since I'll be taking the plenum off. I'm asking this because my throttle body gaskets are leaking and I'm not sure if the intake manifold ones are. The intake manifold gaskets (the long one) were included in my gasket set so I thought I might as well make use of them. So basically I'm asking if the intake manifold gaskets are easy to reach after I get the plenum off and what other general maintenance should I do while I have the plenum off?

Thanks in advance guys hope to have my car running well this summer

You have a gtr or gts? Either way it's not a real fun job, not real hard just takes some time. If your throttle body gaskets are leaking your intake gaskets will probably start leaking soon after. If you have a gtr you remove the plenum, everything else just pulls off.

      What motor is it for?
      Rb26's have one gasket.
      Rb20's and 25's have 2

It's for the rb26 and here's a pic of the inlet gaskets I bought.

The top long one should be for the intake manifold if I'm not mistaken.
Anyways, is it not that much harder of a job to get to the intake manifold gaskets after reaching the throttle body ones?

I replaced both types of gaskets when I had the plenum off. It's best to change both intake manifold gaskets and throttle body gaskets all at the same time. You might want to consider changing all the hoses underneath the plenum while you're at it. Other maintenance you can do while the plenum is off: cleaning the AAC valve and replacing its gasket, same for the air regulator.

Be very careful if you are going to clean the throttle bodies though. There's a thin coating for each of the 6 throttle bodies to properly seal the throttle bodies when they are fully closed. Don't clean this layer off, or your throttle bodies will leak!

If the intake manifold gasket was leaking you would know, because it would be leaking coolant. But replace it anyway if your taking the plenum off. Like someone else said not a fun job. If you do take the intake manifold gasket off. Try and make sure the coolent doesnt get in the intake cylinders
