  • Rear diff. removal

Is it easier/faster to remove the whole rear subframe or can you just remove the diff and leave the subframe in.
    Thanks for any input.

I have removed a gtr diff about 3 times now, easier to drop the whole subframe. Less swearing, less headaches. Just don't forget to disconnect all the hoses.

It is possible to drop the diff only but it's kind of a pain because of the pump set up top.

If you "borrow" a shopping cart and chop off everything but the base and wheels, you can lower it down on to that and slide the whole subframe out. Other option is two skateboards lol. I've done both methods. Th whole subframe quicker but more cumbersome. The diff is tighter to get at but more manageable to work with when removing and out

Im in the process of replacing my rear diff. How does one take the diff out without taking subframe out?? I have all bolts off but the pump up top doesnt allow diff to slide forward then down. What else is supposed to come off?? Help please

There's a small bolt or two on top of the diff if memory serves. Due to lack of time and not being home I didn't end up doing it myself. The service manual will likely help. Good luck!

I think its three 10mm or 12mm bolts that hold the attessa pump control to the top of the diff. Once those are off you should be clear. I think there's a ground strap too that needs to be disconnected.

I've done both ways a few times each. Due to clearance above the diff, it's easier to drop the subframe, replace all the other crappy parts at the same time and do an alignment after...

Its three 12mm bolts, took those off and had to loosen sway bar and then diff finally came off. Thanks
