Torque transfer to front without hard accel or wheel slip...

Hey guys,

Did a search, but couldn't find anything. I had my car in for service a few weeks ago (work was totally unrelated to suspension or drivetrain) and since I've gotten it back I've noticed that torque is constantly being transfered to the front wheels for no reason. I'm not talking a little bit, the gauge is going at least half way if not almost to the top!

The 4WD light is not on. My fluid level looks normal. I have brand new tires on the car, the roads have been dry and I'm just casually accellerating (car is essentially stock). I've had the car for about 2 and a half years and it has never done this before. It is totally killing my fuel economy!

Any ideas?

Wheel speed sensor. Did you change wheels/tires? What work was done?

I've got the opposite with my car, I find the torque gauge to be very sluggish. It only moves if I hammer the throttle.

lol thats normal. there wont be any torque applied to the front wheels unless your wheel speed sensors detect your rear wheels slipping. also your problem is your wheel speed sensors. check the atessa computer in the trunk for codes

I'll check for codes. I didn't think there would be any since my 4WD light never came on.

If run different size overall size tyres / rims on front, rear, it can make 4wd playup (different wheel speeds).

It's common for the G sensor module thing under I think was centre console to fail on GTR (very expensive part). It controls how much torque gets transferred to front wheels under acceleration, cornering, braking, etc.

Or buy a Field E-TS torque split controller.

So I checked the ATTESSA ecu for codes and only saw 8 which is for the ABS. That won't be the issue as the ABS was removed before I even had the car. I read in the manual that if the wiring is faulty the wheel speed sensors won't throw a code so I guess it's time to get the meter out.

i dont know where you read that but i know for a fact the astessa computer has a code for each sensor. ive gotten it before and had to replace

Ya I know there are codes, but it says right in the manual that they might not report if there is a short in the sensor. Regardless, I just checked the resistance on all 4 wheel speed sensors and they are all in spec as per the manual (0.8 - 2.2 kOhms). I'm still only getting code 8.
Any other ideas?

No while parked. The manual didn't say anything about spinning the wheels. At least not that I saw.

Is your car lowered, hard suspension, bumpy road?

If you go over pot holes, or large bumps that causes wheel spin then your symptoms are normal, every r32 does this.

I have stiff suspesion, but its the same as it has been for the last 2 years. No bumpy roads either. It happens while cruising on the highway @ 120 or down my street at 50.

As I've been wracking my brain the last couple days, I remembered the shop telling me that the boot was torn on one of my CV joints and it was completely dry. They replaced the boot and packed it with grease but is it possible that even after being greased again that it isnt spinning freely enough and that's why this is all happening?
