bone stock high km RB26s sell for 3k, you can sell for 5-6 at least.
and as it's been said, you can't get much efficiency out of your setup. If you want an efficient gtr, the closest you will get is OEM, or a big turbo that keeps you out of boost most of the time.Victory is on the horizon..

I couldn't understand for the life of me why Nissan used a MAF only system on the GTR....untill I started to look at it from a marketing and corperate standpoint. The GTR must get good fuel mileage in a land where gas is $1 a litre (in 1989) and road taxes and tolls are huge.
In Japan the worst fuel they have is equivalent to our pump 94 and their High Octane is about the 99 to 100 pump. As a result, because the GTR wasn't really ment for the world outside of Japan, they used a MAF only fuel injection system (no MAP). With low compression and the high octane they could get away with runnng the engine very lean in certain conditions that you could not possibly get away with here on pump 87. Diesels throttle by fueling and run extremely lean at times, this along with zero pumping losses (no throttle blades) is why they get such good fuel economy.
So with the MAF based system, the engine only receives fuel based on measured air, throttle position and RPM. There is no enrichment for zero vacuum or small amounts of boost. Now the tune does keep things from melting down by not letting it get too lean (through a crap load of dyno time by Nissan) but it is lean enough that 87 would start to melt things and delaminate the turbine wheels for sure in a 100% bone stock car...Nissan recomends Jland High Octane in the GTR.
This is why a MAF based system (the L Jetro PFC) can still give you a car that won't go through fuel like a drunken sailor with a stroker and stock turbos. You still need to run 91 octane in it even with the Aquamist.

I use L Jetro if you want to say that's the one uses air flow meter.
I looked around the internet and Japanese octane rating uses different system than ours, and I BELIEVE 100 in Japan is like 95 in Canada. Quite a substantial difference but no the end of the world. I still think aquamist will be the savior lol no point to argue here but I will prove it once I set it up and have the result. However I totally agree with you 91 octane is essential even with water injection. I just know the key is to utilize the advantage of having anti-detonete and pull the timing like crazy and it just won't knock. Running rich or lean may actually be a second factor here.

I use the best Aquamist kit and it does not have the fuel sensor you speak of nor is it an aftermarket optional part. Only map sensor and water meth flow sensor. You can have the aqua mist run any time, even cruise but rather than having to refill the 1 gallon tank every few tanks of fuel, it could be filling it every time you're out of fuel.
Where did learn about the aquamist fuel monitor? what kit did you buy? My vipec controls the aquamist but isn't looking at fuel, more for EGT/knock control but I'm crazy about overkilling things.

Thanks for the info lol. Again, my plan is to take full advantage of water-injection here to kill EGT and detonation. The aquamist is pretty smart it got some kind of sensor attached to a fuel injector to track fuel flow and can be programmed to inject meth/water at exact ratio to the fuel. It got an optional MAP sensor so it KNOWS when to inject meth/water above certain thresold. Methanol itself is already a fuel and injecting it already making the mixture richer.
But I really appreciate first hand experience with water-injection tuning from any of you guys cuz this is just theory and I haven't done any of it yet.Black 1991 GTR. Serious garage stand mantle/parts car.

You should smell the fuels in Japan, I would use the Hiocu as an aftershave. It smells like VP's Q16, A LOT of light aromatics in it.. The regular is like our pump 94 from Chevron. That's how shops can wring goofball amounts of power out of pump fuel cars, its really good. HKS Drag fuel is in the neighbourhood of 114 octane (I think, there are some conflicting reports, some think it's Elf Turbomax which is only about 102 octane).
