  • Wideband placement.

Did a quick search and came up with some mixed answers. I am about to install my Autometer wideband and was thinking I'd install the sensor where my divided downpipe meets. Anybody else have a wideband and divided downpipe setup? Just wondering where you guys installed the bung.

Think I read somewhere 12 inches past where they join up, not sure if that's even possible on a stock down pipe, I have a kakimoto 3 pc and the down pipe is longer

In the downpipe or decat pipe is fine.

I did my downpipe cause my decat is titanium and felt it uncool to molest it any.

In stock location (down pipe / turbo dump pipe) is better for faster A/F ratio result's (why factory put o2 sensors there). Further down exhaust supposedly gives more accurate result's due to less turbulance (from exhaust wheel on turbo) and makes wideband sensor last longer.

But from testing in link below (by tuners and others), at tip of exhaust result's in a stable A/F ratio (not flickering A/F ratio as when installed in front pipe), but leaner at idle.

Page 9 onwards (especiallly chart on page 13) if you want to see result's of the wideband testing for yourself -

Ok, cool. I kinda figured it should be where my downpipe joins together. I have divorced dump pipes and divorced downpipe as well.
                Thanks guys!

I seen the divorced dumps, not sure what a divorced down pipe looks like. Is it 4 pipes? Does it bolt to stock exhaust? Maybe in the decat( if u have one) might work best

It's mainly just two equal length pipes that join into the cat back system. It's got nice mandrel bends and is stainless and looks very similar to a Greddy downpipe for the RB26.

If RB26, you want to see A/F ratio from both banks (3x cylinders per bank x2 turbo's), so slightly after the twin front pipe is best (where exhaust gas from both banks have mixed and are flowing as one, but exhaust gas is in timed pulses of exhaust gas, can hear the pulses via popping sound from tip of exhaust at idle). That way if one bank goes lean due to blown exhaust manifold gasket or downpipe / turbo dump pipe gasket gasket, etc, you'll know about it.
