  • Aftermarket filter airbox / insulator

Hey guys, any idea where I could find an airbox or insulating plate for the stock MAF location?

One of these would be perfect, but they don't do international shipping.

I'm up for any options, if anyone's up to making them quality-style, I'm interested.

Saw some company on eBay dealing with these in Australia not to long ago. Thought about it but really? As if it matters that much. It's not like you'll ever feel any difference. Money would be better spent on a proper tune or sortin out all those little bugs these old cars have.
          Just my often unwanted opinion.

From a flow mass conservation standpoint it could have it's benefits even if minimal (like leaning my AFRs with cold air). But between you and me I also find it would look badass I like a modulated engine bay. I'd love it in raw brushed aluminium to match the engine.

EDIT: And yes, you're totally right that money would be better spent. Thing is I don't have a tuner around here and what's next on the list is a whole bush refresh on the chassis/subframes... *sigh* not sure if I'm up to the task.

With a cold air feed (hose) that cold airbox keeps intake temps at a certain level (doesn't rise throughout powerband). If intake temps go up, so does out temp on intercooler, cylinder temps which makes engine get closer to knocking or knocks (depending on A/F ratio, etc) and might have to pull ignition timing. That result's in less hp.

Also there's a company in Australia that can buy products for you (they charge a handling fee), then they pack it up, ship it to you. I had the name somewhere, or look on Ebay Australia, as I think the name is mentioned there somewhere.

I will do it myself with cardboard as a template then I will either fiberglass it or carbonfiber, I will see. I did a couple of custom sub box in fiberglass, shouldn't be too hard to make I believe.
