  • Power fc, single z32 maf do-able yes or no?

So the title pretty much explains it, I've read for a couple hours and have had no straight answers if this is in fact do-able. I read a bunch of answers of how it can be done and a bunch of answers of people theorizing that it can't work

    So question is,

I want to run a power fc l-jetro on my rb26 with a single z32 blow through maf. Is this possible?

I want to keep things simple and read that I just need to run both maf signal from the same maf and it will be tunable

I need feedback from people that have done this before or are running it right now...

You technically can run any MAF (better if use Ford Racing Lightning MAF, as is rated to 700hp and the parts are available to fit it as a blow through setup), but need access to ECU via tuning software. Why you can run other MAF's, as only need the voltage to load translation table or VQ as some call it (input the figures manually on table). But if reset tune, have to redo it again.

Weld on intake piping mounting plate for Ford Racing Lightning MAF -

If want someone that's done a blow through setup on a RB engine with Lightning MAF (with Nistune, which is similar to PowerFC), contact this person (scroll down to see the Lightning MAF on intake piping) -

If really need to, can run 2x Z32 MAF's infront of a bigger turbo (I think it was Greedy that sell a intake piping kit for this mod).

If running Z32 MAF in blow through setup, you are going to have to cut up intake piping (weld beads on each part of intake piping, so intake hose joiners have something to grip onto) near where stock BOV's are located and fit intake hose joiners, intake hose clamps on each side of MAF housing.

Perfect that makes sense, the tuner said it might be do-able but I'm not sure it'll take alot more time, i gotta do it all from scratch,so in theory he wants to be able to load his preset map on a chipped ecu, couple hours on the dyno then off I go basicly

      Thanks skym

You're welcome. The main thing you have to worry about is intake piping size, as MAF was designed to work with certain size piping. Stock intake piping can be 60mm, yet Z32 MAF housing is 80mm. Can use intake hose joiner reducer on both sides of Z32 MAF housing to change diameter of piping for a short distance. Usually you keep the intake piping small (60mm) to increase velocity of the air.

Same with Lightning MAF, as it requires certain size intake piping for it to work perfectly (from what I understand, Lightning MAF is sensitive to changes in airflow).
