Time for a new Clutch - Please Help.

I have a 1990 Nissan Skyline GTR R32, and I need a new clutch.
The car has at the most 400hp. right now. and no plans in the future for more power as of now, I only drive the car on the street and odd track. Just want the clutch to last at least 3 summers.

-Being I have to pay for a wedding, house and other things soon I don't have a lot of money.

Currently I have a OS Giken Twin Plate (I think)

I have 2 friends who are willing to give me a hand installing the clutch (that have done it before), I have a buddy who is letting me use his hoist. I just need to go buy a clutch kit now.

I found a wicked deal on a Twin Plate ORC Orgua Twin Plate Clutch and flywheel with about 80% meat left. Only issue is, it doesn't come with the release bearing, pilot bushing and alignment tool. I am assuming I need these parts in order to change the completely.

Anyone know if I need the release bearing, pilot bushing and alignment tool, and if so where can I get these? I called Darryl at right drive but he is off until monday.

If for what ever reason I cant get the ORC Clutch, does anyone recommend any other clutch options for me? (decent but cheap, just needs to get me 3 summers) I have heard some good and bad about spec clutched but then I think I would need a new fly wheel and it works out to be about $900. Didnt want to spend that much, unless i get a good deal on a good clutch. I have seen that theres 6 puck clutches but from the research i have done it seems they dont last the longest.

I found a clutch kit on ebay for $450 shipped. Its F1 Kevlar Clutch Kit w/ Chromoly Flywheel and includes the release bearing, pilot bushing and alignment tool. Only flaw is its only good for 370hp, and I have never heard of F1.
-Anyone have experience with F1? Good deal, or don't bother?

Look into "bully" they are local I believe to Ontario. My car came with a 6 puck from them with a factory flywheel, it held 400whp no problem, and they are very well priced. Around $600 iirc.

I put one of those f1 in my gtst, it was dirt cheap, I think 130 bucks, but I regretted it soon after, it's so much work to put it in, don't cheap out, why not get your os rebuilt? I've also heard good things about bully clutches, my brother in law has one in his 500hp soob and loves it , and really good customer service, his was replaced for some reason, can't remember why, and in Ontario, If you sell the os I might be interested

I hear the "puck" clutches dont last very long? how many km have u had urs? how much abbuse?

I was thinking of that but its like 1200 to rebuild, and i was only told it was a os. its a twin plate forsure but dont wanna rip it out and find out its something else..

as for the f1, what one was it? this seems like its ok but just like u said, dont wanna regret it soon after.

I'm not sure which one it was, it was ceramic 6 puck, idk, I didn't like it, had a slight shutter when starting off, unless u gun it, but I was told it was normal for a puck clutch, 1200 to rebuild? Eek lol . I've seen a couple nismo twin plates for sale, around 1200 also, might b worth it for a basically brand new os twin

yea, i heard puck clutches dont last which is why i want a disc. or a twin plate.

also being my first time doing this clutch i hear its a pain but some ppl drop the tranny some pull the motor? whats easiest?

I have the alignment tool. If we can find out what clutch it is we can order the correct sleeve and tob from rhdjapan...

I would pull just the tranny, but I've heard people say the whole thing is easier, but I don't see how that's possible , there's a lot to disconnect for the engine, the tranny just has a few bolts, the top ones aren't fun, I did this on an rb20, 26 is probably harder to get at, I also had to jack up the front of the engine to get the bell housing to clear the firewall, I jacked my car up like 30 inches , on blocks, crawled under there and did it solo, on my back with the tyranny on my stomach trying to slide it on, luckily went first shot, next time I'll buy or rent a tranny jack, save a lot of suffering

I always pull motor and tranny as one. I can imagine the Easiest would be dropping subframe if you have access to a car hoist. I never had that luxury.

Alright, well what ever clutch i get i can get the release bearing and pilot bushing with it.

Should i buy a "ok" new clutch or a used good clutch?

Mattia's do u have a tranny jack? or now where i can rent one?

check to see what u have first, if its a twin os get it rebuilt very good clutch and perfect for your hp

My 6 puck lasted about 15,000km of moderate driving and a couple launches before it had about 20% life left when I took it out. So yeah they die fast

Is it possible to just get new clutch plates from OS? If your pressure plate is in good shape just get a new release bearing and get the flywheel machined. Its good option if you like the clutch you have

Yea, just I was only told its a os so don't wanna take it out and then have the wrong parts, just wanna get a new kit, install
It and then if its a os ill rebuild it and sell
Or use it in a few yrs.
