  • problems with power steering

my power steering overflows when I drive hard - I was the track yesterday and in the engine bay where you fill the power steering fluid, it leaked a ton of fluid. I had a rag zip tied on to prevent spillage onto hot pipes.

anyone know of a fix for this?

how full is the resevoir? are you sure the lines arent cracked? has it been repositionsed at all? if it has it needs to be higher then the pump... the tank needs to be the highest point of the system

If you don't have a leak or don't overfill, you might want to wrap your reservoir with a fabric cover/sock like they do for BMCs/clutch reservoirs

Your fluid is most likely overheating. If you haven't flushed it, good idea. Also, I added a cooler and fire wrap for tw hoses. No issues since

          thanks for the quick responses.

no leaks in the hoses - all hoses are new and it is fresh fluid. I just had a motor rebuild and everything that looked like it needed to be replaced, was replaced with new OEM or upgraded parts.

I used the fabric/sock cover but that got soaked in fluid that seeped out the lid. I think the lid is not 100% tight and it's just overflowing. is there an aftermarket reservoir anyone know about?
