  • Installing Oil Filter Relocation Kit

Hey guys, all of us that own a GTR know that changing the oil can be a pain in the ass with the location of the filter, so I was wondering if it was possible to install a relocation kit with the engine still in the car? My buddy who is a mechanic says he thinks you have to pull the motor to do this but I kinda doubt that you do. Any thoughts? Or is there anyone who has done this with the engine in the car? Thanks!

I did it, it was a bit of a pain but no leaks. It would probably be easier with IM off.

I have one also, changed it around a couple times with no leaks, don't have to pull anything, now I have a cooler in the fender and the filter relocation under the front lip, super easy to change the filter

I did mine with the engine in the car. I bought sandwich plates, Aeroquip fittings and hose and did my own kit. bought everything at Racerpartswholesale for around $100 and took a couple of hours. A pita but definately do-able. I worked it from above and had the car on ramps for tightening from below as well. The fittings to sandwich plate were tough but try some different wrenches, crows feet, extensions, etc...

And find somebody with small hands

I recommend removing the intake manifold. It's not that bad of a job and your less likely to have leaks as you'll be able to properly get a wrench on all of the connections.
