  • Issue: Skyline R32 GTR Chuggin/Stalling only when car is HOT. PLEASE HELP

    1990 Nissan Skyline GTR R32
    RB26DETT

Issue: Car cuts out, chugs and comes close to and sometimes does stall. Only does this when the car is hot. (after idling for 10min, then I go to drive it, the issue starts)

Also, when I rev the car black carbon and what not blows out the exhaust..? donno why

Below is what I have done so far:

-Changed all new plugs gapped at 0.80mm (NGK BKR7E)
    -New Coil Pack Harness
-Coil Packs (Pauls - cortexx spars from his R33)
    -New Injector o-rings
-Checked the MAF and all solders are good. (Also swapped these, but didnt do anything)
-Deleted the cat, installed new test pipe. (I broke the temp sensor, light didnt come on. unsure if this would do it or not?)
    -New Air Intake Temp Sensor
    -Comperession is perfect 162 across
-I have swapped the igniter but, didnt do anything. Though I dont know if the other igniter was good or not.

I was planning on changing my clutch this week in order to make it to the skymeet, but if i can even get my car running properly then I dont think ill be doing either.

    Please help!!! Thanks in advance.

have you checked the timing? doubt that could be the issue but always good to know. run some sea foam through it, cleans everything out pretty nicely

ran sea foam thru it already, and haven't checked the timing. seems to idle fine, only chugs when under load

TPS not on idle contact can make engine stall or close to when under load (with light's, etc on). When on idle contact inside TPS, ECU should switch to kickdown tables which raises rpm to prevent engine from stalling, idle stabilisation tables, etc. TPS fails, been through 2x TPS them so far (depends on how you drive car to how long they last) and can cause stalling out of the blue problems. With second TPS failure, could wiggle TPS plug and engine stumbled. Wiggled TPS plug more and engine stalled.

Ignition module can playup after 10 minutes of driving, but usually engine can't be restarted until ignition module cools down.

Also like what someone else found on here, check cam belt, cambelt timing, CAS timing. Sometimes idler, tensioner bearings are old, cambelt needs replacing (if done over 110,000kms, sometimes earlier), waterpump, cam seals x2, crank seals x1, mounting bolts for bearings, etc.

Unless ur running high boost/bigger injectors, put heat range 6 plugs back in. I took out the Bkr7e's and put my bcpr6eix back in, set timing to spec, and runs like a dream again. Albiet a bit rich par rb26. I think the 7's are too cold for our rich runners.

After switching the plugs the car ran good for a few days, then this issue started. if plugs where not good, would it not run properly right away?

I had a leaky injector, swictched o rings and was good. now i see gas around it again, I'm gonna swap it with some spare ones i have.

I played around with the car and i think i made it worse.. it seems to do it more and worse now? car wasnt even warm it was right away..

I also swapped the coolant temp sensor with the intake air temp sensor.. but gonna switch them back.

my father inlaw seems to think its the exhaust temp sensor but i dont think so.

The exhaust temp sensor would not cause this. It's just a temp probe with a light. When I got my car it ran great. I wanted it to stay that way so I did a whack of maintenance and upgrade stuff. So when mine started I didn't think plugs either. My timing was retarded too...about 5 deg btdc. Spec is 20. I have 2 new o2 sensors IM installing this weekend to see if it helps further. My Bkr7e plugs fouled in about 9K. Next step is injectors and dyno tune if necessary if it's still way rich.

Alright, maybe ill thro my old plugs in and see if that does anything.. I wanna try a knows working cas, and igniter just to 100% rule them out.

Then ill try a 100% knows working maf. if problem still is there then, i guess my next step is to test the TPS i guess?

You figure this out yet, to be able to make Skymeet?
I have a spare igniter if you still need one to try
