  • Nauseating gas fumes

Hey guys, I've been having an issue with gas fumes on my gtr. The issue only occurs when the vehicle is in motion and I see no signs of gas leaking from the vehicle when it is parked. What I'm doing with the car seems to change the intensity of them, hard cornering especially. The smell is only present when the windows are down on the vehicle, if they are up I do not smell anything. The amount of fuel in the tank also has an effect on how bad the fumes are.

Any advice on what to check? My a/c doesn't work as well so this puts me in a horrible situation when the weather is hot.

    Thanks!

Fuel pump area. The seal is probably gone. Replace or reseal with silicon.

If not the above, check engine bay around fuel filter for cracks in fuel hoses, leaking (can cause engine bay fires, replace the hoses, fuel filter at same time). Also check fuel cap seal itself (sometimes has to be replaced).

I inspected the seal on the fuel tank access and it was not installed on the cap properly, it was half dangling into the fuel tank. I installed it properly and the gas fumes have now gone away.

The best kind of repair, free!

        Thanks for the help
