don't know if this can help ya out, but subaru's are built longitudinal, just like our skylines.
To remove said bolt, I would use a breaker bar, put car in neutral, set bar on floor ( real tight ), and crack it once. Instantaneous results. The inertia just looses it.
Please, do this at your own risk.

Hey guys, sorry to bring back an old thread, but be glad I used the search field and didn't start a new thread ! I have an RB20DET and I'm trying to remove the crank pulley (need to do a timing belt & tensioner pulley on my car and I decided to replace the water pump while I'm at it). I do not have access to an impact gun and I'm not exactly sure what I can do to remove this. The one thing I know is that this thing is stuuuuuuuck, and it's in there pretty good. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks! :-D
Easiest way to do it is to place a breaker bar on the passenger side of the car against the frame, you have to unbolt a bracket that attaches to the frame at the same spot that the breaker bar will rest on, I think it's a 10mm bolt.
THEN DISCONNECT THE CAS, by unplugging it.
Get into the car and turn the on and off quickly Engine has to crank.
Presto crank bolt is undone.
Make sure that the breaker bar is snug against the frame.
Oh and also make sure the car is in neutral before you turn the key.
When you tighten the crank bolt on, dip it in oil and torque it to 360 ft/lbs.
Cheers.

^ That seems like a guaranteed removal method, though I'm a little scared to try it. Any other suggestions? At aproximately 12:00PM, I will attempt, once again, to remove this stubborn:hit_head: crank bolt. This time, I'm hoping for the best....any more suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks guys 8-)!
Ok guys, finally, I got around using the "crank engine & breaker bar" method. It was really the thing I wanted to do least, but after wailing on the stupid crank bolt for 3 hours with an impact gun, the thing still refused to budge. So I resorted to the "crank engine & breaker bar" method, no joke, within 2 start pulses, i heard the long ratchet (with the bar slipped over the handle for leverage) fall off the crank bolt. I got out of the car, and reached for the bolt and to no avail, it was able to be spun out of it's thread with a finger. So what? I only wasted 3 hours of my life for nothing :hit_head: . Thanks so much for the help guys, I really, really, really appreciate it!!! But I have 1 more question, to get the crank pulley of do I absolutely NEED a puller? Or can I substitute it with something else?
Hey dude, what's an ATI? I'm really scared to pull off the pulley now, especially when I heard the word "broke", I just got the puller, I'm gonna attemp it either tonight or tomorrow morning.
