  • Power FC Tuning

    Those of you with Power FC;

Where did you get it tuned?

Did the tuner start with the base map or create one from scratch?

Can anyone post there inj and ign maps?

on a stock engine with external upgrades (downpipe, intake, steel wheel stock turbos, boost controller, yellowjackets, etc).
where should WOT A/F ratio be, higher than 11 or 12 or something else? what's too high?
where should A/F ratio be at highway cruise? 15 or 16 or something else? what's too high?

once it's tuned did you turn off the O2 feedback?

Do you have a Datalogit yet?

      datalogit + AFR gauge --- good/must have

I have a Power FC - L Jetro it and I use it with copilot software... FCEDIT makes my head hurt...

      fantastic stuff...

I tinker/tune everyday around with the non-boost area,,, leaving he boost/danger/fun area to the professionals..

I eventually want/will run without the O2 sensor.. apparently you should get "gooder" gas mileage ..

i've got the datalogit box and an afr gauge.

started using the copilot software, it's pretty easy to use and intuitive.

the issue is not knowing the safe af ratios. i'm mostly looking for maps, so I can do a comparison.

Base map helps to start engine, idle, don't drive with it. You can do the self learn idle feature for 10 minutes or so (procedure should be mentioned in manual with PowerFC). Then put on back of towtruck and send to tuner for the rest.

Every car is different due to mods, so what works on one car won't work properly on another. Cars you can get away with using a generic tune have the same mods (factory car is one example).

You turn stock o2 sensor feedback off before tuning. Stock o2 sensor can make the A/F ratio incorrect at idle, cruise.

Tuning requires a dyno to see changes to torque, power curve when adjusting fueling, ignition timing.

GTRs only use close loop (O2 sensors) for idle control. Once your off idle its open loop.

Interesting....no closed loop at cruise? That's where most of your gas mileage would be, at lean cruise. The ECU should use a combo of target lean switch time on the O2 and max vacuum to achieve this. My Djetro isn't using O2 feedback at all, just max vacuum. It does pretty good but I was going to put in some O2s and try to improve on that.

On flat ground at about 100km/h I get about 25-27 M/US gal. (30 Imp.). Around town showing off I get about 8....lol.

It may use o2 for light throttle cruise too. Not sure. I'm making 425 whp and got 27 mpg aswell. Good tune makes all the difference.

Stock ECU initially runs in open loop when you first start engine (cold) and switches to open loop when on boost (it's looked at during idle, cruise where engine is off boost), as stock o2 sensor is only a narrow band o2 sensor (0-1V). Wideband is 0-5V and is used to tune engine when on boost.

If have cams, stock o2 sensor input is usually turned off (even with PowerFC that was based off stock ECU).
