  • Turbo service/rebuild

I bought a shell and got myself a front clip. This weekend we pulled the engine. We had a nice surprise instead of stock turbos it has r32 n1 or Nismo(garret a/r60 m24 14411-06u00). The rear Turbo is solid with no shaft play how ever the front has almost an 1/8" of Movement in and out. I was wondering if anyone knows a good place locally(st catherines Hamilton or south side gta) to get them serviced for the shaft play and balanced. Thanks in advance for responses and happy thanks giving everyone

    Cherry turbo in St. Thomas.
It can b done cheaper, but he is good at what he does. Promise.
Also, can cheapout, buy a rebuild kit, rebuild em yourself minus being able to balance them.

they have steel (iconel alloy) turbines already so no sense in me buying a full turbo kit. Especially since the one is still perfect no shaft play and spins nice and free. Just the one has play back and forth. I'll look up cherry turbo. Should i ask for anyone in particular? I figure i'll drop the second one off to be looked at while the first is there. Just be on safe side :P. Thanks for input =]. Assuming the one bearing is whats causing the issue, the turbines still look to be in good condition.

I've got in contact with cherry turbos and would like to drive out there tomorrow, however i don't know if he is open or not. Does anyone know his hours? They aren't posted on his website and he didn't pick his phone up when i called today.

Alright sorry to bump up my own thread but I figured I'd post a review.
I drove down there and met with Herman. He had a look at the turbos and since the only way I could describe them was as nismo turbos he took some measurements. When he finished that he told me they were t25 turbos, and that while 1 was fine the other would need a rebuild to what extent he didn't know. Within 5 minutes he had it appart and diagnosed as the thrust bearing giving out due to running dry for some reason. Told me my turbines and everything else were in good condition to be reused. Quoted me 450 + tax and shipping totalling 550.
4 days later I get a call that my turbo is done and to send him payment via emt(which is very convenient) as well as my shipping address to save me a drive out. The bill came to 475, 75$ less than quoted price, and when I recieved my product which was just supposed to get a thust bearing, no cosmetic work(cleaning or otherwise) and a balance this was what I recieved.

It looks brand new! I'm very pleased with his work, it was 1 week minus a day for rebuild and delivery. I believe he'll take a turbo shipped to him for repairs however I'm not sure how estimates change like that. My in shop estimate was free.

Here's what my other turbo looks like for reference to how he cleaned it up
