  • 650hp goal

I am currently running Nistune on my BNR32, but here soon i am going to a single precision 6776 and shooting for 650-700 hp. So the questions i have are:

1)What is the best option for a full stand alone on a RB26?
    AEM v.2 Haltech etc.

2)What fuel system should i run?
I am leaning towards a surge tank and a A-1000 pump

3)What size cams would you recommend for this goal?

    4)Turbo manifold?
    T4 flange(not twin-scroll)

I just want a general direction to head in is all and would like any feed back you guys have for me please.

    Thanks in advance mates

1.) With ECU, buy what suits your application, budget. Look at mods, what you want from ECU, which dictates what ECU to use.

2.) Can fit a Sard surgetank (duel intank fuel pumps which should be quieter and take up less trunk space) with teflon lined fuel hoses (prevents fuel smells in cabin), dual entry fuel rail from SARD with Sard 800cc injectors, Sard adjustable FPR to suit and good quality fittings, etc.

    Injector calculator -

    Fuel pump calculator -

3.) 270 duration Procams with valves springs, lifters, shims, etc to suit. You'll get bigger hp, torque gains throughout powerband over Poncams.

But you'll get better hp, torque gains if cams are matched to turbo, head, etc (do it properly).

Send engine, turbo, etc specs to these people and for small fee they will tell you what will work with your setup and make the cams for you -

Tomei can make custom cams to order (if you prefer Japanese made cams).

4.) Sinco custom steam pipe exhaust manifold or 6boost (or local made). Add a flexi to front pipe (like they do on Honda's) to stop exhaust swinging on exhaust manifold thus making it crack. Also can add some bracing from flanges to runners.

Mods should start deleting these xxxwhp what do I need threads as they pop up once a week.

A.) been covered 10 times in the last 6 months. Ecu should be based on tuner

B.) external or internal set up will work with your goal.

        +1

these questions should be asked of a performance shop, or should be found using the search function.

          ECU's are application specific.

ECU's have basic similar features, but there's additional features, additional external parts on some ECU's that suit certain applications.

Like for example a Motec ECU can have more rpm adjustment points for higher reving engines and run a proper CDI setup for higher hp engines, datalog shock travel, etc.

A experienced tuner should be able to adapt to any ECU (basic features are the same), any engine.

unfortunately, most canadian tuners nearly refuse to tune any ecu but usually push their favorite or whatever they sell. hence why I'm on my 3rd standalone (3rd tuner coincidence?).

Unfortunately the search feature on the forum is good for nothing, so this was my final resort.

And i was asking for reasonable answers, not for mods to shut this down. If you don't have an answer to said questions above then don't reply please. But i'm not here to turn this into a pissing battle, I just wanted some general information regarding to the questions I asked. This is what a forum is for correct? Just because it was covered before doesn't mean that it specifically applies to my application and purpose. Sorry, rant over.

And Skym, thanks for your reply. I really appreciate it. Where i live no one knows a single thing about these cars so i am trying to get most of my info from this forum. I will look into those manifolds and custom cams. That should get me headed in the right direction.

You're welcome. Around 600-700hp in Japan they tend to go with 260-270 duration cams and around 700hp it's more like 270 duration cams. But that's with tuner turbo kits (would have to have a similar size turbo or turbo's, etc).

In Japan they do all the work for you with their turbo kits (cams, turbo, exhaust manifold, etc), but since yours is a custom setup, it needs a set of custom cams to suit turbo, head, exhaust manifold, etc.

You can match cams to similar size turbo, etc by looking at build threads, but it's better to do the calculations to do it properly (match it perfectly).

Check out some of the project/bud thread around and you'll find good info and stories worth nothing. If you look at luckygtr's first few build treads (I think there's 3 or 4) he was around 600hp and minimal mods. He also lives in quibeck somewhere

Or talk to Robin at Almasi or whatever. I hear she (he?) is a good tuner so go by what he recommendeds and you'll be fine

You don't need a big budget to make 600whp, just need more money to Make it last
                    No build thread.

Only a tuner could answer that question. They might have been trained on that ECU only or they like certain features of that ECU. Or maybe it's a cost effective solution for the customer. Or maybe they are a dealer and have to only tune cars with that brand of ECU.
