  • Gtr whiteline subframe bushes. Too high? Help

    Hi,

I replaced all my bushes with whiteline poly components but it seems my subframe sits higher up (like 1" closer to the body than before) in the car now meaning a lowered car by body drop. All parts are r32 gtr specific.

How does this affect my anti squat/squat and should I be throwing spacers in to bring it back down?

Anyone know how far the subframe sits off the car (front and rear main bushes of rear sub) if I have to make spacers?

I think the subframe is normal around an inch from the body. Companies like SPL have spacers to raise/lower the subframe with there bushings, surprised that white line doesn't. Can you not use the stock cupped spacer with the bushings?

Why bother, you just lowered your car without using more angle to the control arms. You will have placed the arms more to the center of the camber arc. You raised the center of gravity a touch but i don't think you will notice any difference. Placing the control arms more to the center of the camber arc will take away some under steer. Going back the other way will dial in some under steer without adding more static camber to the rear alignment.

As far as I know, Whiteline pineapple bushes change angle or height of subframe (depending on how you set them up).

          1. maybe you forgot to reuse some of the oem spacer (cone-like parts) ?

          2. in any case, its ALOT better for the suspension geometry, like mentionned lowering the car by body drop is far better than doing it by lowering the suspension, for the same lowered height you'll have a better suspension geometry, so i would keep it that way

I have pineapples, they only seem to fit on em bushes, not these which are different.
I used all the spacer/cup things but the bushes are much lower profile and I would need 1-1.5" spacers because I'm out of threads and the subframe isn't against the body where it stops.

I like having the car lower but my exhaust is less than 3" from the ground now, my exhaust hangers can't get any shorter and I have no flex couplers in my titanium exhaust system so I can't raise that either, its also close to the subframe now.

When I asked around a while back, the higher the subframe is into the car, the more anti squat which I don't want. I do like what Jon says but ill have to make some custom hangers and maybe some flex couplers in my titanium exhaust so it can be brought up front the ground..

changing ride height, either by lowering the suspension, or getting the subframe closer to the body, will not affect then anti-squat / anti-lift caracteristics of the suspension

the only way to do that is to change the suspension arms' pickup points, and since they are attached to the subframe, moving the subframe doesn't alter their position relative to each other

the downside of dropping a car by just lowering the suspension is that the new nominal height is ~2.5" to 3" lower than stock, at one extreme of the stock suspension's travel

at that position, the roll center is very far from its optimal position, but then when the suspension compresses, you move from this nominal position even further away from the stock height, (2" of compression + 3" of drop = 5" away from the stock nominal position) this moves the roll center so far out that the car will roll exponentially, immensly reducing grip,

the only way to correct this is via extremely stiff suspension (anti-roll bar and springs) or roll center adjusters, or a combination of both

thats why i say a body drop is better than a suspension drop,
if your car is now too low, simply raise the suspension back to the past ride height, this affectively gives you a visual drop without the suspension geometry bullcrap

i know what i'm talking about since this was the subject of my engineering final project for my bacchelor's degree, wrote a 180 page paper and got an A

I run large Cisco sway bars, moonface roll center adjusters, jic 12/10kg.mm suspension so I should be ok if I raise suspension again and it doesn't change height by spring tension.

The whiteline lock and align kit (stock bushes only) is great for stock bushes since it'll tilt the subframe forward or back and inc/dec squat. I guess I'll get some spacers made up and keep the subframe where it is. The attessa pump is mm's away from touching the body but that's ok. As long as the exhaust fits i guess. Having no exhaust flex couplers makes things tough when dropping the rear as the exhaust won't drop with the body (exhaust hangers on body) nor be held up by the hangers.
