  • Change your own Downpipe or not ?

Like the title says, would you change your own downpipe or not? I'm doing the regularly scheduled 22 year maintenance work on my front end, suspension, etc... I already have the steering rack out and in the shop being rebuilt, the Ohlins coilovers removed for service, the lower arms/ball joints off and even got rid of that pita heat shield near the rack. I have impact gun, compressor, etc... so not at all worried about taking it apart.

The downpipe bolts are right there but they are nuts and bolts and look like they will be a serious mofo to get back on. I hate letting anybody else work on my car and my garage is well equipped. I even have small hands to boot hahaha. Blitz downpipe to HKS dumps so it will be little bigger than what is there now ...

Is it as bad as it looks or not?

    Thanks!

Not as bad as it looks. Get a 14mm impact swivel socket and its easy.

yeah you can easily swap a downpipe under an hour

a little trick is to use a bit of liquid gasket on the dump pipe gaskets to stick them against them and not worry about it when sliding the new downpipe up in its place

If you got the steering rack, you'll get the DP easy
