My back story with this car is that i bought a shell from a user here. The plans was do small body work and anything else i can do on it until around this time of year when i can finally afford an engine swap and put it in. However then someone else posted up a front clip that they "got in a storage deal that went wrong". he had no idea what was in it, or what it was worth so we went up had a look, did compression and decided to take it. When we got home discovered it had r32 n1 turbos on it.
Since then i've had them serviced, 1 rebuilt 1 was ok'd and left alone.
They are Inconel wheels, a/r 64. The guy who rebuilt said they were essentially the same as garret t25.
I havn't driven the car so the feel of it will mean nothing, and my plans for now are leave it as a budget build. I'm in school and can't afford to dump money into it, as it seems alot of people on here manage to do. As such its going to stay with moderate power and few upgrades beyond doing the suspension and handling components.
I've stumbled upon a deal where i can help someone clean their garage, the end result being i get a set of garret 2860-5 to slap on my car, essentially free. I was talking to Blake(littledevilcrx) while he was at my house, and he pointed out the fact that if i'm not going to be pulling big power maybe its better that i stick with the n1s. On the spreadsheet people linked me when i was searching for what turbos they were it said they were good for around 600 hp. I don't think i'll ever make it there with this car, so in that sense they should be good for me. He suggested that with that in mind, maybe its better to keep them around as they'll spool quicker than the 2860s and give me a more enjoyable experience.
I'm looking for other peoples opinions. The car is essentially stock right now, k&n intakes, greddy piping to z32 mafs, stock turbo/ic piping with a devided twin turbo pipe. Stock injectors, os geiken ts2b clutch, kakimoto cat back, might be getting veilside 3.5" turbo back. Exhaust manifolds self ported, sandblasted not polished(don't have tools), stock ecu, mishimoto rad. I think thats all.
In my position would you use the 2860s, or would you keep them around(or maybe sell them) and use the r32 n1s?
Thanks =]
