  • Tomei cams with stock turbos and fueling?

    Found a really good deal on 2 tomei procams, would I be able to throw these on the gtr and not worry about fueling, turbos, and stock ecu?
    Just give it a couple hundred kilometers. It'll shoot you right in the wallet.

      Pretty sure procams need headwork , poncams are drop in, but ya you should still retune

        Cool, thanks. Might go ahead and buy them for later. $400 for the pair.

          Procams need the Tomei Solid lifters + shims, Tomei valve springs. Procams can produce more hp, torque over the whole rev range over Poncams if set correctly (tune, cam timing).

          Poncams work with stock valve springs, stock ports on head, stock valves, stock intake, exhaust manifolds, etc. They are basically like reground stock cams, but using new blanks that are grinded into shape, instead of welding onto lobes on stock cams, reprofiling lobes to get more lift, duration (not as reliable as making new cams to those specs).

          But cam manufacturers can regrind stock cams to gain a little bit more hp for not much $$$ -

          Aftermarket cams will require ECU to be retuned (run engine richer, change ignition timing to suit, raise idle rpm, etc) and dialing them in properly to suit a rebuilt engine (if skimmed head or block or both).
