  • GTR Torque Split Controller

Hey, thinking about buying this but before i do, just wondering if anyone has this unit or something similar.

If so, how do you like it and does it make a good amount of difference for street use and race track use (road course, not drag)?

    been there, wrecked that.

Never used it, but i use the fullrace dccd pro, i tested it at the last track event before winter, and all i cant say is that it is one of the best investments i made for the car. i literally had to learn to drive the car all over again since now it didnt have a tendency to over steer. also in corner throttling made the awd work they way its suppose to.

I have a Skylab torque splitter. Definitely a good investment. Even if your not tracking the vehicle it's a fun gadget to play with and see what kind of handling/split you like

i have one very similar, (without the 2wd switch)

its basically a understeer tuner, it only bypass the lateral g-force signal, think of it has an ajustable gate :

set it at 1 and its basically like stock, set it at 9 and the car will understeer like crazy... why?

the awd ecu receives both the longitudinal g-force signal and the lateral signal

when the long* signal goes up, it engages the awd
when the lat* signal goes up, it reduces the awd,

so when cornering hard, you shouldn't use front torque, it gives too much work to the front tires, creating understeer
so the, in that situation, normally the ecu receives a higher lat* signal then long*, giving more front grip
when exiting the corner, the tables change and the long* signal is now higher than the lat* signal, resulting in more traction to accelerate

with the controller, you are cutting down the lat* signal, by 0% to 100%
if you put it at 100%, then the car never knows if its cornering, it thinks its always in a straight line, never reducing awd in the corners making for ALOT of understeer

so again.. basically, that controller is an understeer tuner

thanks for the info guys. I ended up "making an offer" just to check and it was accepted immediately so i ended up buying it. it's on its way now so we shall see.

I'm wonder if all the extra torque is going to tear CV boots and break axels?....

Had mine for 3 years. I leave it at "0" for street use and ~3 for track use. It's excellent and I've never had an issue.
I took it apart and installed it to look oem by the parking brake. If interested I can post my thread on how I did it.

                Here ya go.

I've since removed the small control box and have the switch and rheostat mounted in the same spot. It's just a little cleaner that way. If you're careful you can transfer the sticker as well.

The ETS pro is the best but is between $500 and $800.
                    No build thread.

Things have come a long way since that GTR Controller was first designed.
As for the comments about it being an Understeer Controller i would say these devices are better described as an Oversteer controller.
Folk don't fit them to induce understeer but rather tweak the car to reduce oversteer.
The ETS pro is one of the devices that,as far as i know, does away with the OEM G meter and Attesa ECU but there has been the Ruzic around for while too.

                      Top Secret sell the Ruzic.
Other developments have been tweaks to the OEM system to such as Digital G meters from Midori,Tarzan Yamada and Do-Luck.

(Kit utilises Standard Evo disc, which is not included in kit)IMPORTANT NOTE:Before purchasing or installing a formula big brake kit, make sure that the

Yamada's sound interesting and has been getting a lot of interest as his is tweaked along with Midori who offer 2 types i believe.
I suppose it comes down to two camps.
Guys that want a better G meter to replace our knackered 25yr old ones and a knob to play with and guys that want a whole new system.
I've got a Field E-TS which controlls corner and straight and am looking at getting a Digital G meter but which one?

I bought one from the same guy last winter. Waited till summer to put it in and it didn't do a thing. The only thing that worked was the 4wd to 2wd switch. Contacted him asking if their was anything I could do to trouble shoot it and he said it has to be working and then never emailed back.
