  • Fuel system question for 650wheel.

Soo just wondering if this setup will work for 650whp. This car is a street car, occasional drags and autocross.

    Stock intake pump
    Stock fuel lines
    Inline bosh 044

    ( stock fuel filter ??? )

Aftermarket rail with single in and single out on each end
    ID 1000's

    Nismo fuel pressure regulator

    Stock return line.

Now obviously I know this setup is less than ideal but it's something that will work for the summer untill I decide to change it and save up some more funds.

If pulling high lateral G's the engine might cut out or run lean due to fuel moving away from pickup in fuel tank when fuel tank is low (commonly happens on racetrack). Collector tank helps to prevent this from happening via supplying a steady supply of fuel to engine. Size of collector tank will depend on fuel requirements (how much fuel your fuel pump moves to engine).

Lift pump in stock fuel tank > Sard or similar collector tank with fuel pump inside (quieter) > Teflon lined fuel hoses (to prevent fuel smell in cabin, etc) > fuel filter, damper FPR, fuel rail, pressure FPR, return hose to fuel tank. Then there's fittings, etc.

You can start with a duel entry Sard fuel rail (setup for single entry), Sard FPR and add the additional fuel pump, hoses, etc later for a dual entry fuel rail.

Stock fuel filter is best. Better than some aftermarket fuel filters.

I would build your fuel system with future mods in mind. Over building is better than building twice. A secondary tank and pump is a must have to protect your engine for circuit or autocross.

I have a secondary tank, braided lines, FPR and an aftermarket rail

My car is circuit only and hasn't had any fuel issues since I added the above

        fuel system

All I have is a second pump in the tank with a Y joining the two, hotwired. Stock lines, stock filter. A Trust fuel rail with Sard 1000cc injectors and Trust regulator. That's it. Trapping at 140mph with that. No leanouts when I push it in the twisties with a full tank...dur.

Really, you should have a full tank anyway, it gives the car better balance. But only full, half full and you get some whiplash effect from the fuel sloshing around. I figured that out the hard way, almost going ass first into a gorge. Thought the HICAS was giving me issues but no, the fuel was kicking the ass over after a hard transition.

Jon did you have any pictures of how you mounted the pumps in tank? You had the twin stockers right, can't remember.
Seems like a decent idea for now, do you think I can use a stock pump alongside an 044 in take? Or should they be matching pumps when you go that rout.
Is your rail twin entry jon

I have a nearly new Tomei type L FPR for grabs. Way nicer than the nismo one

same as this.Currently in a box.

Whether you own a right-hand drive sports car, specialty car, diesel SUV, mini truck or postal vehicle, we are here to serve you, and keep your car in top running condition.

You don't need a fancy fuel system, like garetth says, check out lucky GTR's fuel system. I think he has twin stock gtr pumps in tank, aftermarket fpr and rail I think. Pretty impressive

Save some cash for power mods. Just take it easy on your stock gearbox and you'll be fine.

Any info on your build (list of mods) or a link for build? Curious what a 650whp gtr would have.

Single entry rail and an S15 stock pump worm geared to the stock pump and the pickup inserted into the little fuel box in the tank...GTR tank though, dont know how much different it is inside from a GTS-T.

Jon I have a gtr now! Building it from the ground up.
Yeah that dude made 860 wheel with 2 stockers and stock lines and filter.

Thanks for all the info guys Im leaning towards twin walbros in tank to keep things simple for now atleast.
I posted up a build thread in the gtr section, " Nismo nicks gtr build " I'll be posting a big update when I get the motor back from machine shop and start assembling it.
