  • Throttle buttfly sealant, where to find?

So after fiddling with all my idle adjustments, checking sensors etc. I have come to the conclusion that my butterflys are unfortunetaly polished clean. I let my car idle quite a bit when in school (temperatures dropping below -20c) and it starts automatically if the engine gets too cold (neat eh? ). This uses up a ton of gas, especially when the rpm is reaching nearly 1700 when idling. What can I use to re-seal my butterflys and gain a proper idle rpm again? Lol
Just give it a couple hundred kilometers. It'll shoot you right in the wallet.

I think someone used testors enamel paint or something of the like with good results

Yup...Testors model paint, hobby shop. Clean out all of the old sealant then clean the bores and blades really well with a tool cleaner or Acetone. Open the throttle blades all the way and, with a Q-tip, smear some Vasalene on the blades on the side that you want to stop up against the sealant. Make sure you dont leave any on the bore. Paint in the gaps on the side of the bore that the blades sweep away from and you are done. Let the paint dry and make sure the paint stuck to the bores and not the blades and bolt them back up again.

If u reffering to me then your wrong. I did this on 4 out my 6 itbs idle went down from 2k to 850 rpms. And now i have plenty of adjustment in my idle control valve. Improved throttle response as well.

To elaborate a lil more read THIS. The way i did mine was a lot cleaner. I just apply 1-2 coats to the opposite sides butterfly opens and shafts seal just like tomei throttle paste.

                            VERY interesting.
I tried automotive touch up paint thinking it would be more durable than model paint but it only lasted for about 3000 kms of driving.
I'll be looking for this LPS product the next time I take my intake manifold off. Which hopefully won't be for awhile.

The link doesn't work for me...

It says ''lubricant'' on the can:; is it a lubricant or some sort of magic enamel sealant?
