    This might be a dumb question do I need two egt gauges ? one for each bank or where would I mount the sensor if I only have one

      I would get a wide Bend O2 sensor if you dont have it. Then maybe EGT comes next. When EGT gets too high it is already too late.

        Rear.

        You can get a dual guage in one from the aviation sector for the front and rear, tap the manifold just ahead of the turbine. A wideband is cool and all but is subject to fouling if you use leaded fuel. If you are so close to the edge that a minor leanout is going to kill the motor then the tune was complete garbage to start or your fuel system was on the ragged edge, or your fuel is crap....etc.
