  • Removal of harmonic balancer rb26 bolt

Hello, just trying to get my timing belt done and I'm following the picture guide found here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/for...t-202526-pics/
I went out and bought a 27mm deep impact socket and it's too small for the bolt. Does anyone have the correct size for the bolt that holds the harmonic balancer? Thanks in advance.

And might get some flak for this, but before you waste your time trying to un-torque it, the easiest way in the world is to put hte socket on, then put your breaker bar braced against the ground and just hit the starter for a sec which will torque it lose. I had no problems when my engine was out and i had the flywheel locked, but in the car i couldn't stop it from spinning wheels even with brakes/ebrakes/in gear

i always use 1/2" impact gun, seems to work without drama everytime. guess sometimes space can be an issue though. Either way will work.

I would have used an impact if I didn't have ac, I had the rad out but didn't want to mess with the ac condensor, getting it off was easy, going on though it's prob not as tight

I'll give this a shot, I don't have anyone to hold the brakes anyways.

Just make sure you don't start the car, not sure what could happen if you do(pully could get some wobble and snap the half moons in the crank snout or could pop off and damage i don't know, I'm kinda paranoid about that **** :P).
Then we couldn't get our pulley puller in there but i noticed the balancer has 2 m6 threaded holes on it, so i drilled 3 holes in a piece of angle iron. Put 2 m6 bolts into the crank pulley, and welded a nut on one side of the plate for the center hole. I then just tightened the bolt on the center hole against the crank pulley bolt and it pulled the pulley off real nice.

I bought a harmonic balancer puller , it was too long, I had to cut about 2 inches off the end of the bolt to fit it in there
