Cheap Electric Fans?

Hey guys,
I'm currently sitting bored since my car is in the shop so I was strolling through Zilvia. While on there I saw someone do a DIY for installing Altima electric fans on their s13 rad. My car currently has a mishimoto rad supposedly for s13(could be gtr, they look the same to me). With this rad in place my clutch fan doesn't have a ton of clearance. I was wondering how efficient you guys think altima fans would be, or if it would be a bad idea for the car? They seemed to like the idea over there.
My car currently hasn't seen any road time(in the etest/safety process for almost a month now ) but the clutch fan doesn't have enough clearance for the fan shroud, and it doesn't overheat right now but its also only ever really been idled. I'm wondering if this would be a suitable upgrade, or if I'm trying to cheap out to much, or if it even matters at all?

The fans can be had for about 20$ at a wreckers, then wire em in for super cheap.

Has anyone else seen or done this mod?

i have 2 electric fans if you want them. came with my mishimoto a few years ago and I've never used them. 40$ plus shipping if you'd like them.

I'd say oem fans are better than cheap Chinese no-name fans but if you really want to do it right get some flexalite or other high end company fans.

I've heard too many times that the oem fan with shroud is best to change.

so in tl;dr form my question is
What would be better for cooling:
oem clutch fan no shroud, or Altima electric fans(2x12" fans w/ shroud)?

I can grab a pair in the wreckers for 20$ and since they fit s13 rad(which I'm currently using) they should in theory fit my car as well

The stock gtr rad is good up to 600hp or so people say, unless you got more than that your best bet is a stock rad/shroud/fan and ditch the aftermarket rad

It was a mishimoto rad included with teh car. I still have my oem rad/shroud, just like how it looks and did a couple things(reversable) to make it fit. Plus it looks nice in there :P.

Factory fans will have a much higher wattage than a cheap aftermarket fan. Remember...that factory fan setup needs to keep an Altima cool with the AC blasting in Death Valley to pass the hot testing from the factory...they should be just fine.

Stock radiator is too thin for 600hp. Like intercoolers, radiators are hp rated to make it easy to understand. There's a formula for it, but converting the stock radiator cooling info is the tricky part.

I tried installing Altima fans on my R32 and so much modification was needed to have them clear the Powersteering fittings that I just sold them and bough the GKtech SR/RB uprated clutch fan.

The problem could also be that you are running an S chassis rad. Even though the coolant necks are in the right location, they are considerably thicker than those aftermarket ones for R chassis and could cause interference from a clutch fan. (Speaking from experience, regrettably)

Best bet is to buy the aftermarket clutch fan, a R chassis Specific Radiator and use the stock fan shroud and never worry about overheating again.

Car isn't experiencing heat issues yet but like I say I've only had it idle. It still runs the stock clutch fan just no shroud which is why I was looking at electric replacements.

For me i have a koyo rad with 1 flexalite electric fan and i never have overheating issue

The lines can be moved rearward just enough to clear the Mishimoto fans and shroud..I just sized that up again last week. There is a bit of grinding involved but you can clock the fittings on the pump to give you more room.

You guys are putting too much thought into this, I've been rocking 2x 12 inch ebay fans and radiator for 2 years on my skylines, never gets above 185*f
