  • RB26DETT AAC Delete

    Hey all,

Just thought I'd contribute to this forum a bit, since I have siphoned plenty of information so far LOL. This is for anyone who is looking to get rid of that annoying big box under the Intake Manifold with all of its vacuum lines and the valve. This box is the AAC (Auxiliary Air Control) Valve, and assists with adding air post throttle body when a/c is turned on or load is put on the engine at idle. This seems to be a somewhat confusing matter when I googled it, because most people say it causes a great deal of hunting idle and high idle issues, but in actual fact, I just deleted mine (I do not have A/C) and it runs and idles fine without any tuning so far. We will see when its cold what its like soon enough, but I did not delete the IACV so it shouldn't be an issue.

So here is the plumbing how I have it, feel free to chime in if you have routed the lines another way, but this seemed to be the easiest for me. I will throw a picture up later when I'm home.

So you "T" your Clutch and Brake together and run that line to the left (rear) balance Tube line. Then take the right (front) side line coming off the IACV that used to go to the AAC box, and attach that to the right most (front) balance tube line. Hook the other line off the IACV back onto the intake manifold like it was, and cap off the spare Intake Manifold nipple, or use for something else.

Like I said, mine is running fine, no hunting idle or any issues at all so far. I will keep you posted on what my tuner says when I go on Monday to the dyno.

Cool, looking forward to an update. I've got my manifold apart right now and am trying to fix an idle issue. Is the AAC doing the idle up correction for turning on accessories like lights and AC or is it the IACV doing this? Because when I turn on accessories my gtr wants to stall because the idle doesn't go up to compensate for the increased load caused by the alternator.

my understanding is the AAC works through the IACV. Right now my AAC is sitting on my desk, and my car runs fine. I can turn the wheel and drive back and fourth and the idle or rpm doesnt change.

Okay well I got my car tuned yesterday, 285hp / 220tq on a mustang dyno, and the AAC box is removed, and the car starts and idles fine. Its cold here now too, like 8-10 degrees Celsius this mornings, and it started and drove great this morning. Keep in mind, I run off MAP on my Haltech, Im not sure how well this work work if using MAF
