  • rb26dett valve train question

    hey guys,

ive been doing some reading and looks like the supertech dual spring/retainer kit is the cheapest way to go for upgrading valve train. my question is this... i bought tomei poncam type b, and wanna upgrade the valve train while i can. Im not looking to overbore the valve, nor are they being replaced, just the springs and retainers. Anyone know what lbs option i should get with these cams?

Tomei website says to use tomei type A valve springs which are rated for 77.2 kgf plus or minus 7% so around 170lbs of force. Cross reference that with the supertech springs to find the best match

Also they mention that you need to shim the valve springs to get proper valve seat pressure.

Look at max revs of engine, lift of cams and match valve springs to suit. Stock valve springs are good to stock rev limit and over time they start to sag and get valve bounce at higher rpm.

thanks man... striped my spare head and its in rougher shape than i thought, so i mihgt wait and build my head next year. In the mean time, stock shoudl work fine to stock rpm limit
