  • TOMEI CAM STUD ? useless? needed? Am I missing something?

I'm rebuilding the head with supertech component, i think the only parts i havent bought is tomei cam stud.. is it necessary? i never heard of these before this date i searched for head rebuild parts.

So basicly, I'm bought the complete supertech overhaul kit, mine's cam baffle and soon to be ordered tomei camshaft.

What else could I buy for my head ?

Depends on your cams your running. If your running high duration, high lift cams you'll be putting force on the caps with more force and for longer. If your using poncams they are considered drop in so I wouldn't bother. If your going procams like myself then I think it's worth the upgrade. But just keep in mind that with switching from bolts to studs it is usually suggested the machine should line bore or at least hone. Same goes for crank main studs.

You won't need them but also they don't fit with the mines cam baffles and would have to cut 4 studs shorter to fit. Save the $200 towards porting. As for mines cam baffles, waste of $250 and it keeps in the stuff that should be going to a catch can and being dumped.

oh really? its the first time i heard that, can you elabore or provide a link to this information ? 2 years ago, my catch-can filled up full . next year i went atmo and my engine was quite oily lol so i thought the mines cam baffle were the key to minimise the ''rejection'' of residu.

I use to run mines cam baffles and a nismo oil separator. Had to cut 4 tomei studs to make the cam covers fit. This is a known issue when combining the two.

The oil that is "rejected" from your ccv should probably not go back into you engine. I can't remember where I read that but I do remember than getting rid of that extracted product helps reduce oil contamination... I search around and see if I can find it.

You won't need tome cam cap studs with your tiny cams.
