Removing tail light assembly?

I'm pulling off my tail lights to send them off for the ZLed treatment... or I should say, I'm trying to.

I searched and found one post sort of addressing the subject. To get the grey (my car's color) plastic surround with the tail lens out am I correct in the understanding that its only connected to the car with something like 3M two-sided tape?

If so, is there a trick to getting them off or is it just heat, pry, peel, repeat? Thanks!

There's 4 bolts that hold the face on. Dunno how you get them out of the car I assume

Found them. 4 x 8mm bolts (nuts... durp) per side. And then about 20 lbs of Godzilla strength butyl tape.

Bolts in the trunk, but it's that sticky black crap they are in there with, just pry on them and they will slowly come off
