  • R34 N1 14411-AA401 CHRA Replacement - compatible wheels?

    Hi All,

Bought an r32 gtr 2 weeks ago. Its apart from paint and a few other things, so putting everything back together. I have a mint set of stocker turbos, but car came with r34 n1's. One is fine, the other needs work.

Since its ball bearing it will probably need a new CHRA. I'm ok with that. I would plan on doing both anyway if I had to for peace of mind in a match.

However, can't find much info, and everything I dig through says getting a new CHRA for it is not possible. I've been looking at the handy turbo chart, and it seems the housing is almost identical to the 2860-5's, and that the N1 is essentially a 2860-7 but with a 2860-5 housing (.60ar instead of .42).

So, my next idea was, what CHRA / wheels would fit in these. Its a lot easier to get the 2860-5 internals, or even an "upgraded" / newer technology wheels like the 2860rs' or the GTX2860 wheels.

Has anyone tried stuffing a newer CHRA design based on the same housing? DId they fit? For me the N1 / being a -7 with larger housing is an almost idea setup for a mix of the -7 / -5. I do LOTS of tracking, and plan on doing several days with this car.

    Any input? Ideas? Luck?

P.s. Doing the CHRA balanced from Garrett for a pair still saves over $500 USD over just getting new turbos.

There are CHRAs available through Garrett in Australia. I've looked into it myself in the event I need a rebuild. If you don't have any luck I'll contact my local Garrett rep that had the info and pass it along.

Thanks bobbo. I replied to your PM as well.

I contacted Garrett and they got back to me and said there are no CHRA's available for them, at least in the U.S. and Canada, the girl wasnt sure if they checked overseas etc.
