  • R32, R33, R34 intercooler

Does anyone know if the R33 and R34 GTR stock intercoolers will bolt directly into the R32 GTR?

Many aftermarket intercoolers carry the same part number dor R32, R33, and R34...just wondering about the stock ones.

I'm looking to replace my stock black intercooler with something a little nicer, but without breaking the bank.

    Thanks!

Is the intercooler good? If it is, just strip the paint from the factory unit. You could even polish it to a shine.

Yes, the intercooler is good, but I'm looking for a little upgrade. I found out the R34 will if with a bit of modification to the piping. I'll need someone to weld it though....

Also, I found an R32 intercooler thats already silver for $50, maybe I'll pick that up.

According to "21st Century Performance" by Julian Edgar, stripping the paint from the OEM R32 GT-R intercooler will actually raise the average intake temperature by a couple degrees.

Is it a special heat-transfer type of paint?
I'd think removing any layer between the open air and the aluminum would decrease temps.

There are places that sell cheap aftermarket intercoolers for the r32, generally SSAC or equivilant ones.
The SSAC 'Greddy style' 5" thick one needs modification to fit and will probably have alot of pressure drop.
I found a place with good prices on 3" thick bar&plate coolers made for r32 GTR's, but they are sold out as of now.

i think the inlet and the outlet from the R34 intercooler are in the same location as the R32. because companies like HKS and Greddy sell Intercooler piping kits, and they are universal for all models.

im going to swap the R34 intercooler on when i get my R34 front cut, ill see how it goes.

I found out its not a direc drop in, there are some piping modifications to be done...

I ended up getting a silver stock FMIC for $50, not much in terms of power upgrade, but will look nicer!

If you end up getting another one, I'd like to buy it off you. My stock IC is ugly.
