  • Wierd water in the trunk

Wondering if anyone else can elaborate. Ive had the car on the road for two weeks and have noticed upon removal of my carpet that recently an adequate amount of water has accumulated itself in my spare tire well. Now I mopped it up and wiped everything down and sprayed it with some black spray paint. But its slowly re appearing. Anyone have any idea's ? I cant find any openings and the carpet in the trunk isnt wet so it isnt from the lid. and its not gas iether

I had the same problem. it is coming from the seal around the tail lights. You will have to remove the lighting clean both surfaces and reseal. I used a silicon marine glue from canadian tire and have had no problems since.

Well took everything apart and it appears that the seal is good looks fresh aswell cause i was unable to remove the lights, i removed the drain plugs and drained the spare tire well. So i sealed the big plug with silicone sealent i got at canadian tire. and im going to seal em one by one until i find the one thats leaking but the stripping on the trunk is new, carpet is dry, everything is dry but this water appears, i think im going to go inside with a flash light and get a friend of mine to drive in the rain and see where is comes from.

don't seal up you plugs! water doesn't come up! if anything take the plug out and put in a piece of wire to leave a small gap between the plug at the metal that way if water collects it will drain out.

Well the water is back. But I found the problem. The spoiler. The rubber seal on the right side of the spoiler. has a hole in it. so the water would go in the hole and drain through the bolt point and drip into the trunk. So i didnt want to seal it on the outside i took off the spoiler got some rubber washers and silaconed the rubbe washer on all 3. then underneath got another rubber washer bead of silicone around that put it underneath tightened everything back up and sprayed the trunk with the hose. LEAK IS GONE!
